Viñales Valley is
well-known for its unique round-top hills called mogotes, scattered around 130 square kilometres. The visitor takes in glimpses of La Ermita’s stunning views on their way uphill. Located on the verge of a mogote and designed in neo-colonial style, the hotel is laid as a half-moon around spacious lawns around a big swimming pool. The 62 standard rooms with facilities for disabled people are arranged in 4 two-story blocks with shaded porches or balconies with comfy chairs. Nothing fancy here but choose yours carefully, as some of them lack the valley view. It’s a 30-minute downhill hike into town, but taxis are usually on hand outside the hotel. Must-see attractions include the Mural de la Prehistoria (giant wall paintings), Palmarito and Ancon valleys and the stunning sight of Valle de Viñales, surrounded by tobacco fields and curing sheds.
